Job Overview

We are seeking a Japanese Bilingual Interpreter for a junior-level, full-time position based in Gummidipoondi. The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency in both simultaneous and consecutive interpreting. The role requires cultural competence and linguistic skills to ensure effective communication between Japanese, English and Tamil speakers.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 3 years of experience in Japanese interpretation and translation.
• Proficiency in simultaneous interpretation to deliver spoken language in real-time (Mandatory skill).
• Cultural competence to effectively navigate and mediate cross-cultural communication (Mandatory skill).
• Certification in Japanese Language Proficiency Test N3 or higher (Mandatory skill).
• Ability to perform consecutive interpretation with accuracy and clarity.
• Skilled in translating written documents from Japanese to English and vice versa.
• Fluent in Tamil, facilitating regional communication needs.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage interpreting assignments.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality simultaneous and consecutive interpretation during meetings and conferences.
• Translate documents and other materials from Japanese to English and ensure translated content's precision.
• Assist in cultural mediation to facilitate clear communication across cultures.
• Prepare for interpreting sessions by researching relevant information and terminology.
• Work collaboratively with a team to ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of interpreted content.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and language developments.
• Participate in training and continuous professional development activities as required.
• Perform any other language-related tasks as assigned to support team objectives.
