FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
To check for daily bed occupancy and plan the day’s operation in both OP and IP Pharmacies.
To maintain medicine, surgical and consumables stock adequately across all formats
To raise stock requirement and receive them on a daily / weekly or monthly basis from Purchase or Stores team.
To check against the Intended slips for quantity, batch no, expiry etc and stock them in a prescribed manner.
Dispensing the drugs as per prescription / indents both in IP & OP Location.
To carry out physical verification of stocks and with system data every day.
To perform stock checking for short-expiry medicines once a month.
To perform stock checking for non-moving medicines once in 6 months.
To build rapport with customer for having a congenial relationship towards effective service in rendering complete patient care.
To receive prescription from the patient /customer, go through carefully before dispensing. If any doubt arises, check with the treating doctor.
To check for Patient ID, Name and the treating Doctor name in the prescription before dispensing any items goes out of the Pharmacy.
If the prescribed drug is not available, arrange for the same through purchase team / stores / distributors. If any particular brand is not available inform the treating doctor about the substitute with the help of Formulary Team.
In case of narcotic drugs be ensured that the prescription is duly signed by the doctor with registration number rubber stamped, and is current dated.
Clarify the quantity required and the dosage with the patients.
To dispense the appropriate medicines from the respective labeled racks in accordance with the doctor's prescription and bill the same quantity.
Prepare the bill for the quantity required and inform the patient / customer about the bill amount. Generate the bill in duplicate for filing towards audit checking purpose.
Check the medicines physically for batch no, expiry, quantity with the bill and prescription and approved by the pharmacist before dispensing.
To pack the medicines along prescription and original bill. If patient prefers counseling that needs to be done in clarity with right dosage and regimen.
To receive the indent / PMR (manual) from the Wards / OT / EMR / ICU before issuance.
If there is any doubt in Indent, that must be clarified with the Nurse / Doctor before picking the medicines from respective racks.
It is mandatory to perform cross checking the medicines with the indent / PMR and bill for batch, expiry and quantity. Pack the medicine and issue to dispatch section / OT.
Online / Manual return medicine slips are checked with the physical stock received and accounted in the patient bill then and there.
Storage, handling and dispensing of narcotic drugs are must to be carried out as per policy.
To participate in all departmental training and quality initiative measures that is in practice across locations.
To maintain ethical practices and diplomacy at all levels that we are dealing in our day to day transactions.
To follow all the rules and regulations of the organization prevails in practice from time to time.

Job Knowledge: Proficient enough in both the Technical & Functional levels for the given role. Conceptual skills and understanding of Business model are utmost important. Shall know the practices in Industry widely followed from time to time.
Quality Consciousness: Specific action is always aimed at improving quality of service, its processes and other activities associated with it.
Cost Consciousness: Implementing Cost Control Measures and its monitoring.
In addition to the above mentioned duties and job functions any other assignment given by the immediate superior or the management will have to be carried out.
