Job Title: Senior Virologist

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Virologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will lead virology operations, including antiviral efficacy testing, molecular biology, cell engineering, and diagnostic tool development, while ensuring compliance with international standards. This position offers a dynamic environment with opportunities for innovation and global collaboration.



Core Responsibilities

●      Laboratory Operations:

o   Oversee culture and maintenance of diverse cell lines and optimize conditions for high-titer virus production.

o   Manage culture and stock preparation of various viruses.

o   Conduct viral titration assays, including Plaque, TCID50, and Immunofluorescence assays.

o   Perform antiviral testing following international standard protocols.

●      Molecular Techniques:

o   Apply molecular techniques for the upregulation and downregulation of genes and proteins.

o   Conduct cell line engineering for experimental and diagnostic applications.

o   Develop pseudovirus/VLP models for research and testing.

●      Diagnostic Development:

o   Design and develop diagnostic tools and methods for detecting microorganisms, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

●      Compliance and Documentation:

o   Ensure adherence to GLP practices by generating, evaluating, and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

o   Manage the proper handling, labeling, storage, and disposal of biohazard materials, including BSL-2 level viral and bacterial cultures.

o   Maintain thorough documentation and prepare detailed reports for internal and client-facing purposes.

●      Equipment and Inventory Management:

o   Perform preventive maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.

o   Monitor laboratory supply inventory and coordinate reordering.

●      Quality Assurance:

o  Review and validate data from team assays.

o  Provide analytical support and ensure all testing complies with quality guidelines.

●      Collaboration and Communication:

o   Communicate regularly with international counterparts in Europe, the USA, and China to align on projects and strategies.

o  Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills for internal team collaboration and client interactions.


Core Competencies

●      Profound understanding of viral structure, infection processes, replication cycles, and factors influencing viral culture.

●      Expertise in molecular techniques such as protein regulation, cell line engineering, and pseudovirus generation.

●      Proficiency in developing and validating diagnostic tools for microorganisms.

●      Hands-on experience in troubleshooting issues related to cell lines and virus cultures in a BSL-2&3 environment.

●      Strong experimental design capabilities with a focus on troubleshooting and problem-solving.

●      Expertise in pipetting, solution preparation, and laboratory best practices.

●      Proven ability to maintain and calibrate general laboratory equipment.

●      Efficient at prioritizing duties and managing laboratory workflows.

●      Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.


Qualifications

●      Educational Background:


o   Ph.D. in Virology or a related field with a minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience.

o        Alternatively, a Master’s degree in Virology with at least 5+ years of hands-on laboratory experience.

●      Technical Skills:

o   Hands-on experience with virology techniques, molecular biology, and BSL-2 &3 laboratory operations.

o   Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
