Job Description: CCTV Engineer (with Network Knowledge)

Position: CCTV Engineer

Location: Noida / Hybrid / Project Sites (as per project requirements)

Experience: 3 – 5 Years

Reporting to: Technical Manager / Senior Systems Engineer

Role Type: Full-time — Project / Permanent (specify in posting)

Role Overview

The CCTV Engineer will be responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of IP-based CCTV systems and associated networking infrastructure within railway, infrastructure, or industrial environments. The role demands a blend of technical expertise in video surveillance systems and practical knowledge of IP networks, ensuring reliable, secure, and optimized system performance.

Key Responsibilities

1. System Installation & Configuration

Install and commission CCTV systems including IP cameras, encoders, decoders, NVRs, and video management servers.

Configure Video Management Systems (VMS) such as Milestone, Genetec, or similar platforms.

Integrate CCTV with other subsystems (e.g., Access Control, PA/PIDS, or Central Monitoring Servers).

Ensure camera positioning, lens selection, and coverage meet design and operational requirements.

2. Networking & Integration

Configure network switches, routers, and firewalls for CCTV network connectivity.

Assign and manage IP addresses, VLANs, and QoS for CCTV traffic.

Work with IT/network teams to establish secure communication between field devices and central servers.

Troubleshoot connectivity, bandwidth, and latency issues impacting video performance.

3. Testing, Commissioning & Documentation

Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) as per approved procedures.

Perform video quality checks, alarm integration tests, and failover/redundancy validation.

Prepare testing reports, configuration logs, and as-built documentation.

Support system handover to client or operations teams.

4. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance for CCTV and related network components.

Diagnose and resolve issues with video streams, NVR/VMS servers, or camera failures.

Coordinate with OEMs/vendors for firmware updates and patch management.

5. Compliance & Safety

Ensure installations comply with project specifications, IT security policies, and safety standards.

Adhere to company’s quality, safety, and environmental management procedures at site.

Required Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of IP CCTV systems, video analytics, and storage solutions.

Working knowledge of TCP/IP, VLAN, PoE, fiber optics, and network topology design.

Experience with switch configuration (Cisco/HP/D-Link) and basic network troubleshooting (ping, traceroute, bandwidth tools).

Familiarity with Windows Server environments and basic Linux commands.

Knowledge of UPS and power requirements for CCTV systems (advantageous).

Soft Skills

Good documentation and reporting skills.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams.

Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Telecommunications, or Computer Engineering.

Preferred Certifications: CCNA (Routing & Switching or Security), Milestone/Genetec Certified Engineer, or equivalent VMS/OEM certification.

Work Environment

Based at Noida with frequent travel to project sites as required.

Hybrid work mode may be applicable for documentation and system integration phases.

Must be willing to work during testing and commissioning schedules, including weekends or nights when necessary.
